This book is very well researched and it is clear that the author wants to make tell the stories of women that history has forgotten and degraded. Unfortunately I found large parts of the book to be rote repetition of the 'legal' facts of the cases with little push back and sometimes falling into the trap of painting these women in a particularly one sided light.
I listened to the audio book and don't know if that was what made it feel like the women were loosing some of their autonomy in the book

A wonderful homage to the woman that were the victims of male violence throughout history, so well written and well researched! Particularly enjoyed the epilogue which linked the women together and articulated the changes in physical and political landscape the author has noted.
Author handled the subject so so well, I listened to this as an audiobook and love this narrator also so that was a bonus!
