The action didn’t let up in this one and I am definitely feeling a fair bit of nostalgia about the end of the Raskura series. I wish these worlds could continue forever.

Martha Wells has such a beautiful wry sense of humor. It is a delight how funny her books are.

Very satisfying

Another excellent entry into the series. Martha Wells excels at world building. This book was no exception. A very good read.

I enjoyed this book so much and read it voraciously but in the end I wish it had devoted less chapters to action-plot and more to character-relationships... maybe that's what fanfic is for, but the latter is really the strength of the series!! i wanted 100 more chapters of malachite and pearl, and about the integration of the half-fell flight (sorry to shade but I wanted him to meet consolation so bad) (and not to say the plot was not good - it was). the biological evilness of the fell is still an unfortunate choice, but I appreciate the simplicity of the first book more now that I'm at the end of the series and can see how the author sets up some expectations just so she can bend and break them later. it's been a while since I've read a series that has the time to breathe and live within itself

What an odd place to end this series! This installment pays off the seemingly endless setup of the last book, and it's much more engaging throughout, with obvious higher stakes and big, significant developments. But the bigger and more crowded this world gets, the more I want to go back to the earlier days, where we were just tracking a few key characters and were tightly tied to their POVs. I wound up missing the characters we'd gotten close to more than I appreciated the many, many new ones.

It's fascinating how, after the world-changing action of this novel ends, there's still so much drama that could so clearly be solved by a few characters talking to each other, and how instead, they all stridently avoid those conversations. This is the first time these books have really reminded me of where I started with Martha Wells, with the Murderbot books — that protagonist would certainly recognize this urge to not deal with emotions, and the feeling that emotions are a much bigger crisis than anything else. Still, odd ending!

I enjoyed it, for sure. Must admit that the ending felt rushed, but otherwise a good read.

As sad as I am to see this series end, this was the perfect close to one of my favourite series of all time. I dearly hope Martha Wells will some day return to this universe, but until then, I'll happily read anything she sets her pen to.

Fabulous, and definitely one of the best books of the year.

Some parts of this got a little hard to keep track of - mostly the various political relationships between the courts - and I had trouble visualizing one area they were in quite a bit. But it didn't get in the way of the story. Wells does a nice job of dropping in little asides and reminders so you can remember bits like that if you've lost track of them. Overall I enjoyed this and am sad this is the last in the series.
