It felt like a lot happened in this book but also not much at the same time. I still enjoyed the book but it feels weaker compared to the first.

This book was absolutely amazing! It had so many twists and turns and it absolutely captivated my attention. I absolutely love everything between Jacks and Evangeline. I cannot believe the ending. It made me so mad but had me enticed the entire time. This was a perfect set up from the first book. Highly recommend. Only thing I wish was a little different besides the end is that we got more of LaLa at the end. She is such an amazing character and I would have liked to see her some more especially towards the end.

Oh my FATES. The banter, the swoon, the mystery of the whole adventure!! No notes for Stephanie Garber. She managed to reveal more yet leave me with more questions. I love this book, I love these characters, & I love how I felt reading it!
I for real wasn't supposed to finish this book so fast...BUT I JUST COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN cries u know its bad when u skip lecture (AND GYM) cuz u can't wake up after reading late into the night...damn

OKAY, I love the first book but I have to say that I LOVE THE SECOND ONE EVEN MORE??? DIDNT KNOW THAT WAS POSSIBLE??? ok quick summary first:
Basically Evangeline's princely husband had been put under a curse where he has to hunt down the woman he loves (aka her) and it is only broken once she dies. To make matters worse, there was yet ANOTHER curse placed on them, a mirror curse where whatever harm is inflicted on Apollo (husband), Eva feels it too SO MORBID. So she basically tries to break this curse by finding 4 stones to be placed on the Valory Arch, after which she will be able to open it and find a cure. This is all orchestrated by Jacks, who since the beginning has always wanted her to open it. In the end, she managed to find the 4 stones with Jacks and even a vampire Chaos to open the Arch. BUT DAMN, the ending!! In fact, there are 2 endings because the initial one IS FKING TRAGIC I LITERALLY SAT UP IN BED WHEN I READ IT CUZ WTFK MAN DONT DO THIS TO ME. Ok so Eva unlocks the arch right? BUT GUESS WHAT because Chaos had essentially been starving for 100 years, the moment his helm came out HE LITERALLY LATCHES ONTO EVA LIKE A LEECH AND DRAINED HER DRY^%@*^#*&#*!&* so she dies. YEP SHE DIED! butbut Jacks omg this scene TORE MY HEART OUT, she died in his arms where she wanted to confess her love but he was too late ))))): so instead of using the 4 stones to go back to the day when his true love stabbed, he chose to go back to the moment before Eva dies to try and save her instead. OK BUT THE ENDING IS LIKE fking cliffhanger style and i honest to god HAVE NO IDEA WHAT RLY WENT DOWN, i mean that is why we need book 3 but im so sad cuz that just means i'll forget all these by the time book 3 comes out ): oh wells. So the book ends with Apollo recovering??? and he meets Eva at the Arch but steals all her memories instead?? so she is left like a lost mindless puppet and we have no clue what happened to Jacks if he is even alive.
OK NOW MY THOUGHTS. WHEW.
I'm a huuuuuuuuuge sucker for slow-burn, tension-filled and like rare sporadic romantic gestures and this book is LITTERED FULL OF MOMENTS LIKE THESE. UGH my hEart.
Ok let's start with what i love: EVANGLINE BEING A WHOLE ASS DAMSEL IN DISTRESS LIKE 3475834 times in the story HAHAH. I am obsessed with how many handsome men she is constantly surrounded by and even better RESCUED by. Jesus, she is basically in a reverse harem. She is saved by Luc her ex-love, Chaos this sexy vampire and of course her ONE AND ONLY Jacks. Wah the number of times Jacks comes to her rescue is insane, he is somehow always appearing at the right moment to clutch her to his big strong muscular chest in his big strong arms. sighs. andand the part where Eva's back is flayed open cuz someone was torturing Apollo, and he was so worried for her, he brought her to a safe haven free of curses and nursed her back to health. OK AND LIKE THAT SCENE WHERE HE HAD TO BANADAGE HER UP AKSFNOISERGIREHG no im not okay. Istg sometimes I feel like Eva intentionally throws herself into harm's way just so that Jacks would save her and give her the attention/concern she craves, given that he tends to be quite cold/harsh to her usually, and im here for it.
The banter between the two characters is immaculate honestly, HE IS ALWAYS TEASING HER SO MUCH and its so endearing omg. Their romance and interactions are so subtle thru out, i feel like a starved dog by the end of it, like why u do dis to me. (and the moments where he would not so subtly brush his hands against her chest when he's holding her, someone stab me) forbidden lovers just hit different, plus the fact that they can't kiss anD THAT ONE SCENE where they're at LaLa's engagement party and he teased her by looking at her lips and shE BITES IT anD HE LOOKED LIKE HE WANTED TO LOSE HIS SHIT ASJEFIOEJRG yas female empowerment.
Ok enough abt the romance, the plot is damn fast-paced thru out as well, there is never a dull moment which i guess explains why i couldnt put it down at all lol. The only thing has to be the lore which is quite confusing for me, cuz of the number of names and places and houses, i couldn't keep track lol. But other than that fking love this book man
