Did you say fairytale retelling? Did you say tension? Did you say banter? If the answer is yes just once - you'll love this!

After the prince of hearts betrayed her, Evangeline swore to never trust him again. But when a new curse is revealed and she becomes a wanted fugitive, Jacks is the only one to turn to and, just maybe, the only one to trust.

Evangeline continues to be naive and trusting, but she does try to better herself. Nevertheless, the book is mainly carried by Jacks. Everyone's favorite fate never fails to provide an ironic quip or sharp-tongued comment. The banter and tension are addictive.
The characters finally get more complex, new layers are revealed and some new players are introduced. The basis for everything is still the story curse that causes every retelling to twist. Never knowing what truly happened and what is missing from a tale makes it difficult for the main characters to find any real answers. In contrast to the first book, however, the narrative is a lot less confusing as the reader is already familiar with the setting and magic concept.

Overall, anyone who enjoys some good banter and a unique setting really needs to read this book - even if that might require some discipline to finish the first book.

Quiero el final en cana

this is simply a masterpiece, the reread was even better
if stephanie wrote 10 books about them, i would read them all and buy every edition i could get my hands on

BRAH. I got it in my head that this was a duology and about LOST IT at the end of this book

IF STEPHANIE DOESNT GET EVA AND JACKS TOGETHER IN THE NEXT BOOK SHE BETTER PAY FOR MY THERAPY!

I HATE APOLLO SO MUCH ATM, HE IS SO SELFISH AND NO SHE WILL THINK SHE LOVES HIM AND I JUST HOPE JACKS FINDS A WAY TO FIX THIS.

MILD SPOILERS (but not really)

The writing is just terrible, the story is constantly all over the place. I enjoy a good fast paced book but this was basically incoherent with no sense of time. All of the events in the first 80-100 pages could have taken place in a single day or a week?

For example: she gets shot by arrows, gets healed, wakes up, walks out the front doors, gets attacked imminently, jumps into a river - those are the events in like 10 pages, there’s no description, no real conversation… it’s like someone wrote a plot plan and just published it?

adventurous medium-paced

Mieux que le premier quand même
J’ai réussis à mieux rentrer dans l’univers, y’a plein de rebondissements, c’est mignon tout plein
Juste… elle a 17 ans et ça vrmnt… et lui je sais pas quel âge quoi

4.5⭐️ most of this book would have been a solid four stars for me until that freaking ending bumped it up😭😭😭😭 Stephanie kept me guessing since book one and while a lot of my questions got answered, I was NOT expecting that ending. My heart hurts for these fictional characters so much that I legit feel like I need to finish the last book NOW just to ease the heart ache. I. Need. More. Jacks😭😭😭
