This is a little scandalous since the heroine is married to another man, but don’t worry, everything turns out well in the end.

Jo is an in-house art teacher in a fancy hotel, Chase is one of the wealthy hotel guests. Since she’s married there’s gossip, a scandal brewing and a general air of “we shouldn’t”. However, as we all know, things that shouldn’t be done can be done if you really, really want to do them. And Chase and Jo really want these things

Utterly charming. It was delightful to sink into the Gilded Age world of a fictious Mackinac Island, and Jo was very much a heroine to root for. Lots of signature Brogan humor.

I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK.

Originally, I was drawn in because of it being loosely based around Grand Hotel and Mackinac Island. Having been there myself, I had to read! Then, I absolutely fell in love with the characters and found myself laughing out loud multiple times. The cast of characters were just so lovable. I’m not big into spicy books, so I was a little nervous starting to read it— not knowing the content. It did have some spice, but it was mostly fade to black, which I appreciated. It was not explicit at all.

I didn’t want it to end and cannot wait for the second book in this series.

One of the first historic books I’ve read, I love Tracy Brogans writing. I will always read her novels! I fell in love with every single one of the character but jo is definitely my favorite. Chase is my second favorite. I cannot believe how quick I get transported to another universe when I read with tracy.

Hard-working Chase is bored vacationing for the summer with his wealthy family. Then, he crosses paths with secretive Jo, who's teaching painting classes at the resort. Chase is drawn to uncover the mysteries surrounding her absent husband. As the bond between Chase and Jo develops, can they overcome the obstacles presented by their class differences and Jo's past to build a future together?

This is a compelling and unpredictable novel for fans of forbidden love. Jo and Chase are complex and very different people who push each other to grow. The storytelling is brilliant and the side characters add richness and a hint of fun.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

For the people who love historical romance but want to read about something other than a Duke or the gilded age (listen I love those too but variety is good). Loved this story of Mackinaw Island during the development of the Grand Hotel and everything that it has become. The hero and heroine are wonderful and flawed and just have so much chemistry. Loved it!!
