Unique and engaging, I finished it in two days. V.E. Schwab wrote about magic in a way I haven't read before and made all of her characters ones I cared about. Usually there's at least one annoying or thoughtless character, but I truly liked them all. Even the villains. The only thing I'd like to see more of is the background story for the characters. I'm assuming that will come in a later novel but I would have liked a little more definition to the characters.

I'm nervous for the sequel as this one ended with all strings tied. But also excited because I'd like to know more.

It was good but I didn't find myself drawn in. Will continue the series though because I did like the writing and the world

2.5 stars. I wanted to love this. The overwhelming feeling I got from this book is the potential it missed. The concept was cool, but it was lacking something. Characters didn’t quite sit right for me.
Still, I feel like I should give it a chance, since I loved Vicious and I have no qualms with Schwab’s writing style.

Finally a book that took me out of my 6 month reading slump. I really liked this book, Schwab is my favorite write so it felt like coming home. It has everything I need in a good book: dynamic characters, unique world setting and good writing. 4.5 stars for me!
