At first glance, the subtitle made me think it was just another surface-level self-help book on people-pleasing. But when I read the description and saw that it focuses on something rarely discussed, fawning, I got so excited for its release that I marked the date in my personal calendar.
Josephson’s exploration of fawning put words to something I didn’t know, didn’t understand, and hadn’t realized was so common, especially because this trait often passes as “normal” in a society that’s, frankly, disturbing.
The book only got better from there. I was deeply moved by many of the personal stories she shared, and my interest spiked again when she introduced healing practices I had avoided for years simply because I misunderstood how they worked.
I should probably just say it outright: this is the best book I’ve read in the second half of 2025.

I think I have read too many therapy type books because this was just okay. I didn't feel super inspired or like things were connecting for me more than anything else that I have read has.
A fantastic starter therapy book. Josephson covers many topics without reiterating herself too much.

“I’m healing at the exact pace that I’m supposed to”
What an incredible book.
Meg’s wisdom and stories she shared were tremendously helpful. Her insight and knowledge gave me a new perspective on how to navigate fawning. Her narration for the audiobook was splendid, especially during the meditations.
I loved the reflection questions and affirmations at the end of each chapter. I see myself coming back to this book as a physical format to spend more time notating and sitting with wonderful information she provides.
