Tried 3 times to get through it. Main character was just too much.

You cannot convince me that edie is 14 years old. She acts like a little kid, it threw me off everytime. I don't understand why the author wrote her this way and then decided that she would be a 14 years old. It would have been perfectly fine if she had been under 10 and it would have made more sense for her to start calling Caz mum if she had been way younger. Anyway, it was cute but perhaps too repetitive at the beginning.

Caroline "Caz" Baker's friends want her to get out and start living again two years after she divorced her emotionally abusive wife. They get her a date with companion escort, Eva, and from the moment the two meet, everything feels different for both of them. Eva, tells Caz her real name is Hannah, to prove to her she feels more for her than if she is just a client. Unfortunately, Caz isn't in the right headspace to let anyone in, let alone someone who escorts women out on dates.

Fortunately, Hannah is patient, supportive, compassionate, and willing to put herself out there when she gets a job as a lawyer's personal assistant. Caz slowly gives herself to Hannah and alone with Hannah's daughter Edie, the two show Caz what it really means to have a family.

This is a lovely story about healing past hurts, vulnerability, and acceptance and I didn't want to put it down!

Discovery is a lesbian age gap romance with a sweet relationship. Caz is a teacher who is learning how to date after an abusive relationship. Hannah/Eva is a single mom who works as an escort. I initially chose this book for it's plus size main character (Caz) but ended up staying because I loved the single mom (Hannah).

I did feel like Caz was judgemental and found it a bit hard to read her perspective at times. Although she does get somewhat better through the book. The back and forth whiplash, along with just not trusting what each other was saying had me questioning. However I did find the book enjoyable and loved the little family moments.

The daughter read more as a 9 year old than a 14 year old which I found a bit confusing.

There is so much therapy needed for all of these characters.
