Από μικρή, πάντα είχα μια αδυναμία στα βιβλία που αναφέρονται στα γεγονότα του Β Π.Π., από τα βιβλία της Ζωρζ Σαρή έως το Ημερολόγιο της Άννας Φράνκ, τα βιβλία που βασίζονται στα γεγονότα της εποχής πάντα με ενδιέφεραν.

Μια ιστορία που βασίζεται σε αληθινά γεγονότα, καλογραμμένη, ενώ αυτό που μου έκανε εντύπωση είναι πως παρότι περιγράφονται πολύ σκληρά γεγονότα, η συγγραφέας το κάνει με τρόπο τέτοιο που δε σε μπουκώνει συναισθηματικά, όπου η αφήγηση πάντα αφήνει μια χαραμάδα αισιοδοξίας και ελπίδας παρά το θάνατο και τα βασανιστήρια που είναι παντού παρόντα.

Σκοπός του βιβλίου δεν ένιωσα ότι ήταν η καταγραφή των θηριωδιών του ναζιστικού καθεστώτος όπως σε άλλα βιβλία που έχω διαβάσει στο παρελθόν, όσο να μας δείξει ότι η ελπίδα και το φως μπορεί να βρεθεί ακόμη και στα χειρότερα σκοτάδια.

What happened in Europe during WWll and in concentration camps is known. Lily Graham shows a perspective of what happened inside the camps to a woman and her family. It wasn’t a happy time, but this story shows how keeping hope can help during a time of this magnitude. It was very well written.
