It is the 3rd edition of this book that I've read. I love this play. It has so many layers and diverse characters. I love how many different themes it has.

This is actually my second time reading this play, and both times I find it to be meh... I just think it could have benefited if the play was longer. However, I don't particularly care. It was overall fine, but nothing to sing about (at least in my opinion)
So I read this because I am in it haha, but it was re-read and I enjoyed it a lot. The tempest is such a unique and visceral piece of Shakespearian literature. The dynamic between Ariel and Prospero has always fascinated me but I found myself really drawn to the Caliban and Miranda dynamic upon this re-read. This is totally a good place to begin with Shakespeare and I highly enjoyed it :)
Unnatural storms, shipwrecks, spirits, magic, murder plots, deception, and love. These are the basics from which Shakespeare wrought "The Tempest." A shipwreck brings those who betrayed him into the grasp of a magician and former Duke of Milan. With his daughter he has spent the last 12 years learning and waiting for this moment. What will he do? The expected human emotions and some unexpected ones will have their say.
The writing, plot, and cast are pure Shakespeare and always powerful and entertaining. Writing at the level of "We are such stuff / As dreams are made of" and "O, Brave new world / That has such people in it" throughout.
Highly recommended to anyone interested in plays, English lit, or (or course) Shakespeare fans!

المسرحية بتبدأ بعاصفة بتغرق سفينة مليانة نبلاء، وبيلاقوا نفسهم على جزيرة غامضة بيحكمها بروسبيرو، الدوق السابق اللي أخوه خانه ونفاه. بروسبيرو بيسيطر على الأرواح والسحر، وبيخطط للانتقام، لكن القصة بتاخد منحنى مختلف لما الأمور تبدأ تهدى، ويبان إن الغفران أهم من الانتقام.
الشخصيات فيها تنوع حلو، خصوصًا آرييل، الروح السحري، وكاليبان، العبد اللي عنده نظرة مختلفة عن “الاستعمار” والسلطة. بس برضه المسرحية فيها رومانسية مستعجلة شوية بين فيرديناند وميراندا، اللي تقريبًا حبوا بعض بعد أول نظرة!
ممكن تكون المسرحية بطيئة في النص أو الحوار تقيل في حتت، فده إحساس طبيعي، لأن فيها مشاهد بتعتمد أكتر على الرمزية والأفكار الفلسفية، مش الأكشن اللي موجود في مسرحيات زي Hamlet أو Macbeth
