After being a big fan in my late teens, I haven't read an Emily Barr in years, and am now kicking myself. She's just as good as I remember. Are any of her books going to win a Pulitzer or go down as modern classics? No. Will she keep you hooked & intrigued with a good thriller thread & engaged with the atmosphere of her exotic settings? Yes.

I enjoyed every page & it moved at just the right pace. I've recently become very disheartened with thrillers, finding the twists all too predictable or far flung. This hit a sensible, yet gripping level.

This is a perfect holiday read. Can't wait to catch up on all her books I've been missing.
