An absolutely amazing read
I was absolutely blown away by this one. I'm a huge Dean Koontz fan, and when this one came up I had to take a loo. I was definitely not disappointed. The narration was superb and the book was a great ride from beginning to end. I've been a fan since Watchers, and this one definitely had the ring of classic Koontz to it with just the right amount to bring it up to modern day Koontz greatness. Thank you Mr Koontz for yet another awesome read, along the lines of "forthing else you've done, Watchers, TicToc, Intensity, The House of Thunder, I could go on, but I won't I recommend this to anybody needing or wanting an awesome thriller, and who also is a dog lover. I melted seeing one of the characters being a dog. It made the story even better. Happy reading, and enjoy yall. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Devoted by Dean Koontz is a battle between silent geniuses. There are two good guys. Woody Bookman “had never spoken a word in his eleven years of life.” He “was the ultimate autodidact. He taught himself to read only a few months after his fourth birthday and was reading at college level three years later.” Kipp would have talked if he could. He was a golden retriever. He understood English and could read. He communicated with others of his kind (the Mysterium) telepathically over the “Wire.” There were fewer than one hundred of them.
On the other side was solitary Lee Shacket, in the employ of billionaire, entrepreneur Dorian Purcell to develop immortal transhumans. Lee was experimentally augmented through horizontal gene transfer to have all the best genes of all species at Refine. When the Refine laboratory was destroyed, Lee was the sole survivor. With his augmentation, he is ready to take all the power and hot women that he’d been previously denied. His obsession is Woody’s mother Megan who refused him to marry Woody’s father-subsequently murdered by Purcell.
Thus, the battle lines are drawn. A boy and his dog against the evil billionaire.

There were bits I liked but it was either crazy action or very saccharine stuff. It was ok I guess.

The first book I read by this author was watchers. The second was the darkest evening of the year all featuring dogs and both books I really enjoyed. That was why when I read the description for this one I knew it was a book I had to try.
I have to say what a fantastic book, the character building was fantastic and well done. I really liked the suspense in the book and the way it built up Dean Koontz is a really good writer and I will be reading more by him for sure, yet another five star read. I also loved the way Woodie was portrayed and Megan to. Every single character had depth to them and even the baddies were likeable in some aspects.

One of my top 10 favorites! Especially if you are a dog lover! 😉❤️
A kinda-sorta sequel to “Watchers,” which was one of my favorite Koontz books of all time. He writes dogs and bad guys very well, but this book was a little too out there for me.

Review:
This book reminds me of Koontz’s early works. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was I felt the ending was flat. Others may feel differently.
Worth the read.
Here is my rating system. Of course this is all subjective
5 star exceptional. Must read book
4 star excellent book. I enjoyed it
3 star. Average. Take it or leave it. Just ok
2 star. Bad. I finished it but didn’t enjoy it
1 star. Did not finish or so bad I wouldn’t recommend it
