This was my first time in this dragon shifter world and meeting Mikael and all of the supernatural beings in this book made this an exciting, fun read.

Mikael and his brothers awoke to a new world, which was very different than when he went to sleep thousands of years ago, but as he acclimated to this new time, he was happy to have a certain female in charge of that acclimation, as she may be his mate.

Avery doesn't believe in love as she watched her parents marriage fail. When Mikael lands in her life she does her best to ignore his sexy dragon body and it should be easy since dragons and humans can't mix, can they?

On top of the swirling feelings between them, Avery's stepmother is on the hunt to kill her, a dark evil is swirling about the city she loves that may be out to hurt everyone she cares about.

I enjoyed the multiple POV's while reading, it kept the action moving and guided the main characters on their path towards finding their happiness together. It lead many possibilities towards where the next books in the series could go.

This was my first time reading Katie Reus and even though this is book three in the series I had no trouble jumping in and beginning with Ancient Enforcer.

A sexy and fun book that I read too quickly

Since I didn't read the books in order, I already knew that these two characters were going to end up together but I couldn't wait to see how they were going to end up together and I really liked their romance that begins little by little but also the mystery with the big bad vampire behind all the attacks !

In short, a nice read and perfect for distracting yourself on the eve of the start of the school year ><

Sweet and quick read. Baby dragon! A dragon hoarding a human’s hair ties because everything that smells like her is his treasure. Found family and blood family. Karma. Long courtship. Mating manifestations.

Shitty people acting shitty. Cancer. Dead mom. Apocalypse.

This is another terrific installment in this series. Mikael and Avery have been dancing around each other for the last two books and this is their story. Mikael is quiet, broody, and completely protective of Avery. They have created a family with her brothers and his. These characters have great chemistry, even though Avery wants to deny it. There is a new evil in the city and Mikael and Avery are caught in the middle and must stop it. I really enjoy this series and I'm looking forward to more books in the series.

I voluntarily read a digital advanced reader copy provided to me by the publisher through Netgalley. The thoughts expressed are my own.

I recieved this as an Arc from NetGalley and the publisher for my honest opinion.

I do love a good dragon romance and I’ve quickly become addicted to this series. Katie Reus’s writing is magnetic. It draws you in from the first page to the last page and Ancient Enforcer is no different. I love everything about this book.

Mikael and Avery's story, a kind of friends to lovers shifter romance. Mikael awakes from hibernation and finds Avery to learn about the new world, realizing Avery is his mate. She is one feisty strong woman sending Mikael into the friend zone, their own pasts coming between them. If you haven't read the previous ones, the author does a good recap and you can understand what is going on, although I recommend reading them as they are very good. The characters are great, the world-building was very interesting, and definitely a dragon shifter series you want to read.

"Ancient Enforcer" is the high energy, action packed third installment of the "Ancients Rising" series by Katie Reus. Readers finally get the story that has built for two books between, Avery, a human, and Mikael, an ancient dragon shifter. You do not need to read the other books in the series to enjoy this story but some characters do carry over for book to book. Reus had introduce Avery and Mikael in "Ancient Protector", the first book in the series. I had been eagerly anticipating this story. The mystery surrounding these two characters kept me intrigued and Reus did not disappoint.

After The Fall, Avery found herself as the manager of a crew of construction workers, building and rebuilding homes for the displaced citizens of New Orleans. The work was familiar to her as it was something she had done before the fall. Having lived in New Orleans her whole life, she had always been aware of supernatural creatures.

Mikael and his brothers found themselves in New Orleans after The Fall. Since they had no family and no clan, they had no where better to be. After presenting themselves to the local Alpha, King, they were "assigned' to live and work with Avery and her two brothers. Mikael senses immediately that Avery is his mate. Avery's jaded past makes it difficult for her to form committed relationships and open herself up to love. When Avery's past shows up on her doorstep the couple find themselves not only battling her demons, but his too.

I discovered this series just after the new year and quickly fell in love with the characters and the world that Reus has built Because the characters appear in the other books the reader gets to know them and their cute quirks. I eagerly anticipate each persons story and will read each installment.

I can't recommend 'Ancient Enforcer' and the whole "Ancients Rising' series enough.

Series: Ancients Rising #3
Rating: 3 stars - I liked it

House flipper Avery agrees to shelter three dragon shifter siblings who are struggling to adjust to the new world. She is instantly attracted to the oldest, Mikael, but refuses to act on it or let him know. But when an old enemy arrives and starts causing problems, Mikael and Avery are forced to confront their feelings.

I enjoyed Avery and Mikael’s story. These two have been ignoring their feelings for the past two books and I knew it was just a matter of time before they gave in. Avery wasa hardworking, independent, and extremely kind woman. Mikael is a quiet, brooding, alpha male who is extremely protective of Avery. I liked both of them and thought their relationship was very sweet.

Their adventure to stop the enemy from Mikael’s past was action packed and filled with a lot of emotional scenes. This book also expands this post-apocalypse world with new kinds of paranormals, and different realms connected to the world. All of which I found extremely fascinating. I love a unique setting that grows with every book. But my absolute favorite thing about this book was that there were more baby dragonlings!

Overall, this was another great addition to the series! I really hope the next book is King’s though because I know it will be a good one.
