I loved this book! It is amazing to see the spiritual growth of the woman throughout the book, and it is so well written it is hard to believe that it is fictional! I definitely recommend this as a light read for any woman at any stage of her life who struggles with what it means to be a godly woman. Very well written. Very easy to read. Some nights it was so hard to put down.
One of the most encouraging fiction books I have ever read ///
“I want once more to tell you how good He is, how blessed it is to suffer with Him, how infinitely happy He has made me in the very hottest heat of the furnace. . . There is no wilderness so dreary but that His love can illuminate it; no desolation so desolate but that He can sweeten it.”

Stepping Heavenward is a very encouraging book for a young Christian (man or woman!). This book reminds me a little of The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis--little biblical lessons are taught in a practical and entertaining way. The story does start out a little slow, when Katie is a spoiled teenager, and towards the end of the book Prentiss really sells womanhood as being synonymous with motherhood (keep in mind this was written in 1830). Even so, this remains one of my favorite books, and I have and will continue to reread Stepping Heavenward every so often.
