My review is for the whole series.

First of all, wow! I loved this series. Each book got better and better. The first book was good, but definitely didn't do the series justice. After book 3 I was in love. The author did a fantastic job of having plot points I couldn't predict, and she really made me care for the characters. I love Rose, Lissa, Christian, Dimitri, Adrian, and Sydney! I'm kind of in a funk now that I'm finished the series and won't hear from these characters again :( but I would definitely recommend this series! It's going into my keep pile and maybe I'll read them all again one day!

It's a four because I always feel so bad for poor Adrian at the end. I'm team Adrian after book three. I'm glad he gets treated better in the Bloodlines spin off. I'm probably one of the few Vampire Academy fans who liked Bloodlines better. My thoughts are still the same rereading the series but I did like it better this time around, even though I still love Adrian.

Carrying on from Spirit Bound’s enormous cliffhanger, Last Sacrifice follows our fave ragtag bunch of vampire bandits as they try to clear Rose of killing Queen Tatiana. This involves a
Spoilerhunt for the illegitimate Dragomir sibling, curing another strigoi, and another run-in with the Dashkov brothers
.

This series has been so hit and miss for me, but I’ll be the first to admit that this was a fantastically slick conclusion to the series. The pacing was great, the action was doled out at regular intervals, the characterisation was consistent, nobody was annoying, the big reveal made sense, and the loose ends were tied up impeccably. I didn’t find myself wanting for closure, and I’m content leaving the characters where they are. It’s an incredibly quick read given its a 600 page behemoth; considering I don’t find these novels gripping and I don’t connect with any of the characters, it somehow managed to fly by in 6 hours before I’d even realised it!

This series is such an anomaly to me. This is one of the better concluding novels I’ve ever read, and yet I can still only bring myself to rate it 4 stars because I just don’t connect with the story. It doesn’t elicit any kind of emotional reaction in me, I don’t care about any of the characters, and yet I’m somehow still here after 6 years??? I feel like I’ve somehow been roped into babysitting a kid sibling on the teacups ride at an amusement park with no clue how I ended up along for the ride.

That being said, this is the first novel during which I’ve actually felt chemistry between Dimitri and Rose. I recall my reviews of the previous novels where I bemoaned their relationship, describing Rose as an annoying little brat with zero redeeming qualities and Dimitri as a bland cardboard cutout whose only interesting quirk was that he liked western/cowboy novels. Oddly, in this novel their attraction and sexual tension was not only believable but actually palpable!

It’s very rare that I ship characters in novels (I never did get involved in the Team Edward/Jacob craze when Twilight was a thing) but I found myself seriously rooting for Dimitri over Adrian. For the first time over the course of the series I felt that
SpoilerAdrian was lovely but their relationship was ultimately passionless, while Dimitri and Rose were clearly endgame
.

Overall: It’s hard to review a concluding novel without spoiling it or unfairly putting the weight of the whole series on the final book’s shoulders. So I’ll just say that I’ve had my ups and downs with this series, but this was such a slick conclusion that I didn’t think Richelle Mead had in her. She managed to tie up every loose end I could’ve thought of and gave the reader more than enough closure. I could find no fundamental flaw with the novel and I honestly couldn’t be happier with how it’s ended. I have no desire to pick up the Alchemist spin-off series because Mead did such a great job tying this one up, but it’s there all the same if readers want a bit more from the universe. No complaints from me!

Bahhh, I love this book. Easily the best in the series

I spent all night desperate to finish the book and find out what happened, Some parts in the book i figured out while others left me shocked. I simply wished it was the ending of the series already!
At least there is the spinoff series to look forward to...

I not sure what else to say except that this book was amazing.

Thank you Richelle

The story dragged on for me. There are things left unanswered, like what becomes of Sydney? And that other vampire culture. And what would happen to Jill? And most especially I don't like how things ended with Adrian! It really was unfair for him, I feel so bad for him.
