It was fine, the beginning was not good and felt like it needed to be edited. Also the ending of the first one made it seem like Jude wanted to be separated from her but to only turn around and be leaving clues and waiting for her in this one made practically no sense to me

This is a sequel and I did love the first book. I live the characters and the romance. It is YA though and so I did wish some of the romance was more mature so to speak but I did love how devoted the MMC was and what a badass the FMC was. I do hope there are some more books in this realm and story. It seems set up for that.

Let me start by saying I love Katherine Quinn, her writing, and the style of it. It is lavish and mystical, filled with everything I look for in a romantic book, and this one was no different.
After reading To Kill A Shadow, I couldn't wait to get my hands on To Shatter the Night. I didn't know how it could stand up to the first book, but it did, and in my opinion, surpassed it.
Kiara and Jude, ohh, just thinking of their names, the magical moments in this book, they're going to live rent-free in my head for a while, and I'm not mad about it.
This book is a masterclass in visual storytelling; it's immersive, spellbinding even, letting you feel like you've been wrapped up in the shadows, watching from the sidelines as this story unfolds, and I loved it.
I will say that by now, I've made my feelings on cruelty to and death of animals clear, and while this one did have some moments, there was also a very clear trigger-waning page that let me know it was going to happen, keep an eye out for it and skim past some parts that I didn't feel the need to read. I appreciate those warnings more than I can say.
