A nice little Christmas story.

I found the style of writing a little difficult to read but that is just due to the age of the book.

medium-paced

It's not just that A Christmas Carol is retold in every cheesy holiday special under the sun (although my guilty favorite is decidedly non-holiday Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past), it's that Charles Dickens's prose is so purple it might exist outside the human visible light spectrum. Simple, arguably effective, very very preachy, you know what it is, you know what you're going to get, and you already know how flat it is if you've watched some retelling. Bah humbug.

"Bah! Hambug!".

Truly— one of the great masterpieces of Western Literature. Concise, fanciful, funny, dark, scary, anti-capitalist, spiritual (literally), and JOYOUS.

God Bless Us, Everyone!!

My first Dickens Novel! I watched a movie adaptation of ‘A Christmas Carol’ for the first time at the end of last year and I loved it!
Fast forward a few months later and I bought the book as well! I knew pretty much what was going to happen but I very much enjoyed it anyway. I found it very easy to root for Scrooge’s redemption and I was glad for the good ending of the story. The concept of the three spirits visiting Scrooge was and still is fascinating. All in all it was a very nice and relatively short read.

PS: Poor Tiny Tim

Remains one of my favourite stories for years!

I never found the story very interesting, maybe because at school it was forced on me every few years with boring made for TV movies.

Reading this for the first time it got me interested for a bit but around the second ghost it lost me little by little and by the end I couldn't really care. I also find old books like these hard to read because of their spelling and old vocabulary.

The ending is very rushed for me and personally not believable that he would change his life like that, the movies I saw got that better across for me with more emotion.

Happy I read it but can't see myself reading it again unfortunately.
