this is a very well known story that has been retold countless times. growing up, i have obviously heard this story, through several different renditions, many many times. but even with the original, the story isn’t anything spectacular. we‘ve all been told the importance of the Christmas spirit, and that’s all this book is doing. the story is okay, but it just isn’t as amazing as everyone hypes it up to be.
“I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach!”
Each time I read it I see something new about the human condition and I love it. True definition of a classic. It doesn't get old even though it's ancient.

Listened to an audiobook/radio play of this wonderful novel produced by Relevant Radio. I read A Christmas Carol when I was in maybe fifth grade, but it’s been a long time. I forgot how lovely it really is, and I think I understand the themes of repentance I lot better now. I highly recommend doing a listen-along of some form during your Advent season!
El año pasado me propuse leer este libro pero, al final se me pasaron las Navidades y pensé que es un libro que solo puede ser leído en esa época así que esperé hasta el año que viene. Y aquí estamos.
A Christmas Carol es una novela muy cortita, de estas que en una tarde con tu café y una mantita puedes tumbarte en el sofá y leerla tranquilamente, sin prisa y sin pausa, y tenerla terminada antes de tener que hacer la cena.
Todos conocemos al menos un poco la historia, así que no me voy a meter en ello. Ha sido exactamente lo que me esperaba. He disfrutado mucho con la presentación y evolución de Ebeneezer Scrooge. Me ha sorprendido en parte, ya que no esperaba encontrar un humor tan ácido con el cual me he sentido bastante identificada en mis años de adolescente inconformista. Ahora, ciertamente, tengo un modo de ver las cosas diferente.
Es una lectura sencilla y amena, desde mi punto de vista y comparado con Great Expectations que es el otro libro de Dickens que he leído a fecha de hoy. Si tenéis curiosidad por el autor, no me parece un mal sitio para comenzar y tantearlo. Además, definitivamente, es uno de esos libros que hay que leer una vez en la vida y que, si se hace durante las Navidades, seguro que se disfruta más de este periodo festivo y lo ves de forma algo diferente.

(A-) 90% | AGES 13+ | Started this in April, went to December, and looked up disappointed as it was still April. Holy moly, this was so good. This really took me away. It was an easy read which is why the age rec. is that. With ghosts, my age rec would be higher, but these ghosts were all very different, so it depends on what you’re child has already read and how they can take it. Charles Dickens is an amazing author. I definitely recommend reading this! It’s very quick and sends a wonderful message.
