This book represented the immigrant popluation really well. It show the first to move countries worked tirelessly to make sure theur family had a great life and then pushed their children to achieve the highest standards. It also showed the difference between families, prems family who showed their love through act of sevice and kareena whose family told each other theu koved each other. I loved how the main characters realsied their perceptions on love were both wrong but ultimately they found love. I did find prem a bit of a douche and didnt think thier love went into as much depth as it could. Also who calls their dick charlie? But overall it was a really nice read.

Cant decide on a specific rating for this but I loved how authentically desi culture was incorporated into the book.

Loved Kareena as a character, all of the details included about culture and lived for the spice but couldn't really stand Prem toward the end and definitely was not a fan of "Charlie".

was this book extremely cheesy, had a bit too many references, and at points felt a bit too over the top? yes. BUT in all it’s ridiculousness it was fun. i am genuinely happy that this book exists and is boldly and passionately a love to desi culture. kareena is the epitome of the stubborn strong willed desi daughter and prem is a dumbass desi man lmao.

a whirlwind romance but a true bollywood glitzy storyline. had to minus 2 stars solely because prem calls his junk "charlie" every 5 seconds. the trauma is real from that..

OK, so I didn't know this was a Shakespeare thing, because really all trope roads lead to Shakespeare or I don't know the bible or something. So if you are thinking that part is dumb or not interesting to you, you can just ignore it. This book is fantastic. It has so much humor and heat and great dialogue. I'm thrilled I have the sequel all ready to go. Nisha Sharma, you've got the touch! You've got the power!
*Read this at the courthouse, and it was a great distraction.

I really enjoyed it but sometimes I couldn’t stand how Prem continued to discount Kareena’s feelings/perspective. It was like he (and literally everyone else in her life) completely ignored what she was saying. Also I don’t think his grovel was quite as much as I would have liked. Overall it was good (the ending felt a little rushed) and I actually loved Kareena, and I loved the MCs friend group.
