I LOVE representation and complex familial relationships AND loving aunties AND playing around with tropes. But there were a few things that mildly irked me including
I needed just a few more positive interactions between Kareena and the family, and would have appreciated just a little more interaction between Prem and his family.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. There was a part about midway through where the dialogue got a bit... strange. it seemed like the author ran out of steam or something. Instead of actual dialogue, it felt like the characters were reading out a synopsis of the main leads. Howewer, that was limited to that middle portion and the book recovered nicely, in my opinion.

- I did not like Kareena, she just didn't have much personality other than wanting to fix cars and find love
- I REALLY did not like Prem - a cynical guy who claims not to believe in love but literally keeps talking about all the things he loves about Kareena on every damn page. And he named his penis Charlie and consistently refers to it in third person as a separate entity. And don't get me started on men using a nickname for women they've ASKED not to be called multiple times.
- I didn't even get halfway but the book DRAGGED, like it took way too long to get where we were, it was not for me at all, which is sad because my South Asian heart wanted to love a South Asian rom-com :(

TWs until DNF: death of mother (before book), recreational drug use (weed), misogyny, alcohol consumption, allergic reaction, hospitalisation, death of partner (before, tumour)

Tropes/rep/themes: Hindu MCs, taking care/nursing to health, enemies to working together to lovers, he falls first

The story itself was okay. I haven’t read the Taming of the Shrew so I can’t testify to it’s accuracy to the original source material.  I only rated it 3.25 stars because I had some key criticisms of the book. First, my copy seemed to have a few mistakes in spelling, and in one instance, even had the wrong character name in a scene. Second, for those who have read the book, “Charlie” kind of made the spice scenes kind of awkward. This book wasn’t all bad though, as it incorporated so many terms related to Indian culture, which greatly increased my knowledge on the subject. Also, I particularly loved the fun scenes between the main characters; I think the museum and food contest scenes were super creative and memorable. I wouldn’t reread it or highly recommend it, but it was enjoyable, and I felt seen by the way the immigrant family dynamic was portrayed.
