While it's better than the issues collected in volume 1, I still find myself not really liking this version of Jessica. I know all her faults are mostly due to her sickness, but "angry heroine" is getting a bit old. This is certainly a step down from the Hopeless run, but with the ending of this story arc I'm hoping things will change for the better.

I am a huge Jessica Drew fan but this Pacheco run is just not doing it for me.

I'm sure my love of Jessica will lead to me reading subsequent volumes against my better judgment in the future and I'm not happy about it.

Note: This review includes up to issue #13 because those are the issues I had.

I hate it. And this breaks my heart because I loved the Loveless run so much. It was what got me seriously into reading comics. And I feel like the new writers clearly hated it and spent the first 13 issues undoing everything.

Remember how Jess is a mother now? She doesn't seem to. It was so great to see a strong female figure who balanced being a mother with her job without neglecting either. I LOVED Roger and three idea of her having a stable relationship. Why do comic writers hate that so much??? It's clear they just didn't like him and wanted him gone.

I'm just stuck on poor Gerry. He just basically lost his father, and as of issue 13 had been shoved off on another person Jess is just using as free childcare.

I actually liked the storyline (at the beginning) about Jess' new brother and niece. I liked her as a bodyguard (and before that a PI). She had depth that we're losing in favor of big fight scenes.

And let me complain about her new costume. I was SO HAPPY when she had a costume that wasn't so aggressively sexualized like before, but clearly I'm the only one that likes seeing muscles and strength vs a Barbie doll figure. Back to butts and boobs.

Someone tell me when they give Roger a comic. I'll happily go read that.
