While this book was very fast-paced and captivating, the views of the author on gender (read transphobia) make it hard to recommend or rate it.

The author is pretty obviously using this book to comment on the trans identity. An JKR reference that shouts out her writing at the end should tell you all you need to know.

I thought this was a great story! It started pretty slow for me but once I got past page 70, I flew through the rest. The plot was unique and unlike anything I’ve read before. I will say I think I expected a smidge more from how hyped up it was but it was still a great read overall.

I picked up this book as I was looking for a different genre to shake up my reading palette. I kept reading even though it was scary enough that I had trouble sleeping. Haha. I love how the drawings made the story very vivid to me. It was so unexpected and I was hoping to get a backstory about the experiment Mallory was in. There were so many surprises in this book particularly because it was horror and true crime all in one. Plus, Teddy was actually a little girl! That was why she was asking about Mallory's chest. What I didn't like was Ted, Caroline's husband was actually a pervert and was his own crazy. That felt weird to me. I wish there was a second book.
