I really didn’t love the narrator of the audiobook I listened too but I love this story so much it didn’t matter.
Slow burn friends to lovers soft romance/ thriller.

Much better than I expected. Turned into a mystery half way through.
I LOVED it!!! This book has it all...romance, suspense, and a little humor. It was really easy to read, very flowing, and I didn't want to put it down! I think I liked it better than The Notebook! Maybe because I saw the movie first, then read the book, so this was a totally new story to me. There were many times I was genuinely creeped out. I think it paints a true picture of a stalker. It was amazing how devious he was, yet he was still SO convinced that the woman would love him. Just an awesome book...now one of my favorites! :)
A great chic-lit. Nicholas Sparks and another falling in love story.

“It was what she'd most enjoyed about being married to Jim. It wasn't only the heady flush of emotions when they'd made love that enthralled her; more than that, it was the lazy mornings they'd spent reading the newspaper in bed while drinking coffee, or the cold December mornings they'd planted bulbs in the garden, or the hours they'd spent traipsing through various stores, picking out bedroom furniture, debating cherry or maple. Those were the moments she felt most content, when she finally allowed herself to believe in the impossible. Those were the moments when all seemed right in the world.”
This is not a bad book. It's perfect for people who enjoy Nicholas Sparks. It has all of the elements found in all his books.
I found it slow and hard to get into. I enjoyed "Safe Haven" much more because I found the story more interesting(A woman tries to start over after running from an abusive husband; Very interesting because it had chapters from the husband's point of view and he was seriously creepy).
This is about a young woman named Julie who is trying to move on with her life after her husband dies. Her husband makes sure she gets a dog that Christmas after he dies(he set it up with someone and left a note explaining why he got her the dog).
So the main story takes place years after these events. Julie starts dating again and begins seeing a man named Richard. But there is also Mike, who was her husband's best friend(and Best Man). The story is about her falling in love again and then there is also a danger/thriller storyline thrown in amidst this.
I won't say much more as I don't want to give anything away(even though it's usually pretty basic with Nicholas Sparks books).
It's not bad. I found it slow but other people would devour this. I liked aspects of the book but as a whole, it didn't do much for me. (When you have a never ending to-be-read list, you're never completely satisfied with three star books).
I liked Singer, the dog. I enjoyed the creepy thriller part of the story. The romance was okay but pretty lackluster.
DON'T read the following spoiler if you haven't read the book.
Spoiler
This is the third book I've read recently where a pet dies. Just this month. THREE books with pets that die and break my heart.Yeah. It was okay. I will keep reading his books because I'm a masochist or something. My top three Nicholas Sparks books would probably be:
A Walk To Remember
Safe Haven
The Last Song
And top three Nicholas Sparks movies would be(because lists are fun!):
The Notebook
The Notebook
The Notebook
And for the hell of it, the three most disappointing Nicholas Sparks books I've read:
The Lucky One
The Notebook
Message In A Bottle(Although to be fair, I didn't finish it)
I think I've only read 8 of his 16 books, so my lists are only half correct. Did anyone see the preview for "The Vow"? I like Rachel McAdams but the storyline looks SIMILAR(memory loss and such) to The Notebook but guess what? There is no Noah, no Ryan Gosling. Instead, they have the guy from "Dear John" who isn't Ryan Gosling.
I'd recommend this to anyone who doesn't read often, the type of reader who likes to snuggle on the couch now and then and read something simple. Or for anyone who enjoys Nicholas Sparks.
