I really liked the art, but the story wasn't great for me.

I am of two minds with this book. I really love this characterization of Delilah and Selim, but the art style can get a little distracting with the alternating between somewhat cut-out style and the gorgeous art that was in the first book.

The story was much slower than the first book. There was also not as much action in this one. It took me much longer than it should have to get through this book.

Fantastic writing and gorgeous visuals from Tony Cliff. I adore these characters and I'm so happy to be spending more time with them!

I hate to say it, but my review can be summed up in one sentence: I liked the first one better.

Learning about Delilah’s past was interesting, but I wanted to have more swashbuckling adventures and less mystery and propriety. When I read Delilah Dirk, I’m in the mood for sword fights, not Jane Austen. I did like it, and I loved the art, and I’m excited for the next one - but meh!

The three stars has more to do with my disliking impulsive main characters than with the plot, art, or any other element, because in general I found this to be a fun, cute, rollicking adventure.

Not as good as the first one. The art is still nice, but some of the action was confusing near the end.

Another fun adventure with Delilah Dirk and Mr. Selim! This one puts our heroes at the center of a conspiracy plot. Accused of selling secrets to the French, Delilah returns to England to clear her good name and reveal the treachery of the dastardly Jason Merrick! The character development in this addition is very good; we get to see the side of Delilah Dirk that she doesn't acknowledge, and there is some tension between Dirk and Mr. Selim, whose desire to explore the nicer side of England is overlooked by Delilah's quest for vengeance. We also see Delilah's need to get revenge in this story, a trait that may come back to bite her later...
