“Life is a prickly pear. It’s always going to be a combination of beauty and art, no matter how hard you try to protect yourself from the hard parts. There is no way to avoid pain.”
Well, I did not expect to sob while reading this book, but it wasn’t the onions I was chopping for dinner that had me crying. Here We Go Again has officially been added to my favorites list for the year.
Sure, this was a romance - I loved Logan and Rosemary, but Here We Go Again was so much more than their story. It was full of so much heart. I don’t remember the last book that gave me a character to love like I did their English teacher, Joe.
He taught Rosemary and Logan during their impressionable teenage years and kept them in his orbit for the following years. For his last lesson, he took them on a road trip to show them how important it is to take advantage of the one precious life that they have to live. Just thinking about their book now has me tearing up.

What I loved (the most, because honestly...all of it):
- The FMCs. I loved Logan and Rosie so much. They were both complex, nuanced characters who had distinct strengths and flaws, and who both grew tremendously over the course of the book. I also loved their friends-to-enemies-to-lovers relationship arc (and the chemistry--whew!)
- The supporting characters. I dare you to read this book and not fall in love with Joe Delgado and his story. But honestly, almost all of the characters we run into throughout the story bring something unique and valuable to the narrative.
- The setting. I'm a big fan of a road trip story, and this one is done so well. Cochrun really captures the feelings of what it's like to be on the road (the excitement, the adventure, the awe, the anxiety, the exhaustion, the boredom).
- The neurodivergence representation
- The mental health representation
While I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good contemporary sapphic romance, I particularly recommend it to teachers. As an English teacher, I felt *seen* by Alison Cochrun.
Thank you so much to NetGalley for my advanced digital copy.
