I read this as a standalone and while it was a bit like walking into a party uninvited it was super easy to read the room! I feel like it's easy to acquaint yourself with the magic system and worldbuilding

The premise was really strong and sucked me in, it was a very nostalgic paranormal book feel which I loved to bits.

Logan and Eva were a real epic love, rivals to lovers, shouldn't want you but I do done so well. I liked that even with all that power at his fingertips being the son of Death that Logan was able to help change Eva's perspective/prejudice.

Overall I definitely recommend it, and am probably going to go back and read the prequel series.

What a demon-filled adventure! The story is, at its core, about Logan and Eva overcoming differences and finding love. They were great characters in a difficult situation. But as a whole, it is so much more. The balance of good and evil. Questioning what’s true and false. Finding yourself. Fighting for humanity and equality. It’s an amazing read that transports you to a world where demons and humans coexist.

This is a spinoff of Demonic Lords of Deliverance series. Which I did not read. This book can absolutely be read separately from that series. However, I think reading that series first would have been very helpful. There are a lot of side characters with complicated relationships. It would give a more in-depth view of them and help keep them all separated. A family tree or list of characters would have been helpful.

I went into this book not having read anything else by this author. I was a bit worried I’d be missing a ton of backstory from past books set in this world, but I was SO wrong! The author does an amazing job weaving the history and lore of this world into the story and introducing you to demons and angels and humans and Horsemen in a way that’s understandable and enthralling; once I started, I didn’t want to put this book down!

Eva is “spirited” and “feisty.” Logan is “confident and powerful” with a tender side. Together? These characters are absolute 🔥.

THOUGHTS 💭
🪽 The banter is SO GOOD! There’s a touch of forbidden in the story that, as you all know, I adore.
🪽 There is so much tension throughout the book; spicy and otherwise. I needed to know what happened next!
🪽 I loved seeing Eva overcome her biases and get to know the good side of demonkind.
🪽 There is a slow burn and the buildup is amazing between these characters, despite the fact that they’re supposed to hate each other.

Thank you so much to Larissa Ione, 1001 Dark Nights & Blue Box Press, and Get Red PR for the beautiful paperback ARC of this book!

I had such a great time being back in this world, but with the next generation, it was so great, and I loved these two, and I can't wait to read more!

As always, thank you to NetGalley, Blue Box Press and Larissa Ione for the opportunity to read and review this book. I promise that my review is completely my opinion and has not been affected by anything external.

I will add a small disclosure: I have not read the original series, and this book is a spin-off, too. But after just reading the prologue alone, you can bet that the series is 100% on my TBR now. As someone who has not read the original series, I will say it took a bit to catch up to the story. I found it extremely helpful that there was a glossary at the beginning, which meant that there was information you knew before going into the story. Plus, the details the author gave throughout the book helped as the story continued.

I do wish that there was a preface to say the timeline between the prologue and chapter one. I had to flick back and forth because one moment, Logan is a little boy, and the next, he is not. I know that prologues typically are from different times, but I always prefer to know the jump, which can help with the flow.
The writing style alone was beautiful. It was easy to follow and understand. It was extremely engaging and hooked me from the start.

This was such an exciting and action packed read! It’s sure to be a hit with romantasy fans and the balance between romance and urban fantasy was well done. I struggled a bit to get my bearings in the world and to keep track of all the different characters and relationships, but the story kept me invested and wanting to find out what would happen next.

Eva was a fantastic heroine and I loved that she wasn’t a damsel in distress. There’s instalust between her and Logan at first, but I liked how their relationship unfolded and shifted. Their banter was hilarious and I loved how they pushed and supported each other. The secondary characters were all so unique and added comic relief and more emotion to the story. I’m looking forward to reading their books in the future, especially Aleka and Sabre’s as well as Amber and Talon’s. The main conflict of the story resolved quickly, but there are plot points that I think may span several books (if not the entire series).

Note: Legacy of Temptation is a spin off series that can be read on its own, but I think it would be most enjoyed if you’re familiar/have read the previous series. Numerous characters from previous books are mentioned, as well as events from those books.

*I voluntarily read an advance review copy of this book*

This was awesome! For apocalypse fantasy set in a more modern time it was a refreshing take on demons and humans. I couldn’t put the book down.
