Was written for people who understand references before my time. Illustrations were damned good.

Not bad but it does not stands alone and to know Deadpools origin one needs to read how he was created. The most important part of the story is that we learn about the character that Deadpool knew and establish a relationship with. We do see flashbacks on how he became Deadpool but not to profound like seen in the movie. It has its emotional moments especially how much Deadpool hates how he looks.

I definitely prefer more recent comics over this more traditional type, but as collections of disparate individual issues into a single tome go, this one manages to have a clear story arc so that's good. He gets much funnier later - more of just a smartass in these ones, imho.

I rarely DNF a book but I couldn't get too far into this classic Deadpool collection (2 or 3 issues ... or maybe a trade paperback's-worth) because Nicieza's writing and/or Liefeld's art was frustrating.

Enjoyed some of comics, but not much really happened. The story was basic and no real character depth. Was expecting a lot more sass than came across.
