I really enjoy this series, it's funny, poignant and the murder mystery has me guessing until the end. The stand-out part of this book, that stops it from being another cosy Christie-esque mystery, is the heart - you really connect to the 4 residents of Coopers Chase retirement village. In this story, you learn a little more about Elizabeth's past but my favourite part was understanding Ibrahim more. Plus, some bad guys got what was coming to them!

It was so fun to catch up with the gang again. I found this plot slightly less convoluted than the first book, which I really appreciated.
I did not like Joyce wishing there'd be a flood somewhere else, for her entertainment. Floods are destructive, tragic, and most likely to kill animals and children. I know it was just a passing comment, but it sat poorly to me. Also, I found some of the characters (including Joyce) sounded a bit too dippy at times. There can be humour in treating the horrific as if it were ordinary but at times it came across as dim rather than funny.
Other than that, I found it to be an excellent, pacey, read. Lots of twists, turns, and shenanigans, mixed with painful and poignant thoughts on aging, and dementia.
I can't wait for the next one.
