I really enjoyed this book! The characters, the humour, the story, the romance - all of it! It was really well done. The steamy scenes were great! And the characters are real which I liked. It was a fun romance!

Who can resist a lesbian love story? Certainly not me! This story was so sweet and funny and filled with love. A bit of a slow burn but otherwise perfect. 😍 Great characters, believable plot, delightful ending. I can’t wait to read more by this author.

I once saw someone call this a romance book written for tiktok and theyre not wrong but it is MY romance book written for tiktok. When people say that queer people deserve cringey romance books, this is what they mean. I devoured this book in one afternoon after finally caving into the hype and buying it. I have three main criticisms. Sometimes the writing felt like it was written to go viral on tiktok and made me question if two people would ever actually say that to each other in real life. Then again, this is a romance book so if youre someone who consistently reads romance (I am not) this likely won't bug you. Two, some of the problems in the book almost get poofed away in a manner that feels unsatisfying especially when they are built up to be major plot points. My final criticism is how much it plays into the 'ambiguously queer woman' trope. I dont think theres anything wrong with having unlableded characters or having characters who are simply ambiguously queer, but in this book they felt oversatured especially considering how they already prevail in most wlw media. I would have really enjoyed seeing at least one character label themselves as a lesbian, bisexual or pansexual. Specifically because Delilah is quite clearly a lesbian at one point explicitly saying she only dates/sleeps with women and nonbinary people. The L word however, is only dropped once on page 214 in a mildly tasteless joke about butch lesbians. This is however not to say I did not enjoy this book. The romance feels earned and the characters are funny and it all feels straight out of a cheesy hallmark romcom in the best way possible. The shenanigans in this book somehow did not make me feel deeply second hand embarrassed like I normally would and that made an enjoyable read. Lighthearted moments prevail overall but the more serious touching moments are not overshadowed. Overall I'm happy to see queer women get the representation we have deserved in the romance genre.  I would recommend this more to people who are well inundated in the romance genre but it is not a bad first romance read either.

This book starts slow, so so slow, and it hurts. Hurts in that deep dark uniquely queer way when you just can’t make yourself fit in. This book hurts with the pain of not belonging. Of course the book doesn’t end with pain, we get a rather delightful HEA, but that queer pain takes up a majority of this book. I read most books in a day or less, this one took me four and a half months before I could get through all that pain. I’d literally only heard amazing things about this book before picking it up, and it is amazing, I just wish I’d been prepared for all of the hurt too. If I’d been prepared for the complex childhood sense of otherness it probably wouldn’t have been such a long read.

The sex in this is oh so deliciously hot.

At the halfway point of this book I genuinely couldn’t see how it would be possible for this book to have the classic romance HEA in a believable way. I’m still shocked that it was possible, and done well. The character development and relationship development in this book is truly remarkable. Not just Claire and Delilah’s relationship either. I think one of the most standout aspects of this book and likely why it’s gotten so much praise is the full sense of community this book built. Claire’s family with her beautiful weird daughter Ruby and complimented coparent Josh. Claire’s best friends who eventually become Delilah’s first friends. The hurt/comfort we get from Delilah and Astrid’s complex stepsister relationship. All of those relationships in this book make the story so much more than just a romance between Claire and Delilah.

I just want every reader going into this to know that this isn’t a happy fluffy romance. This is a romance that gets fought for. This is a romance that means something.
