DNF at pg 224/54% (;¬_¬)   Jace is not like the Jace I know in Mia and Gabe's book. This is not the first love at first sight book I have read but I do not get why he was attracted to Bethany in the first place. Just a pretty face, lean figure and vulnerable look that made him feel more dominant as a caretaker? It made no sense to me. I am ok with Cinderella and Mary Sue plot but it made no sense. If I am in Jace's shoe, I would the hell lost interest in Bethany when she gave her address to Jack and invited him over to Mia/Jace's property before talking and getting consent from them. Hell you know Jace care. On one side Bethany said she did not feel like she deserve it but on the other hand she invited Jack (probably involving in crime, drug, etc.) to a place that could bring trouble to people who were nice to you. Hell no logic behind and it made her look hypocritic. Ms. Banks probably design the plot this way on purpose because without Jack this story had no drama or even up and downs. But in my personal opinion this could be executed in a better way. For instance, find Jack and have a decent talk to him while have Kaden and Trevor with her but not to have Jack aware of their existence to not freak him out. Then try to help Jack to get out of his trouble and get both of them better life? The heck? If I am poor and I have all sort of good resources that I can use, I would do anything I can to make myself a better person so that I am prepare if "Jace" eventually decides to ditch me one day.

Idk if it is because I read this 2013 book in 2022. It feels completed out of date and I just cannot finish. I might still try Ash's book since I have already bought it... The hell I even gave Gabe and Ash'a book a 3.5/4 stars.

Loved it a great story...Jace was just so loving he was controlling but Bethany wanted that from him, and though they had some rough patches I wouldn't say anymore but a great book. Loved it can't wait for Burn!

Wow! For some crazy ass reason, I have a thing for these books where a guy controls a girl. However, this was another level. Usually, it's just the bedroom, where the girl willingly submits, and then he controls her life subtley without the girl realising or caring. In this? He came out and said it. I control you, day and night. I'll admit, he was way too overbearing. I would have beat his ass, but she loved it, so I don't really mind. It was a lovely story of a girl holding onto her past, instead of giving into the "fairytale" as she put it. She realises ace actually doesn't trust her, and in the end it takes her life in danger for him to realise he does trust her. I can't wait to see Ash's love story, he was the one I liked from the beginning. He has no loving family besides his friends. And by the looks of it, it's going to start with him seeing his family as his visit is coming close. I hope his grandfather is lovely. He sounds it from what ash says. Always the grandfather with money who is nice and the parents below him trying to milk them dry on their death bed. Assholes. Time will tell.

K I feel like my three starts is generous considering the cheesiness of the chapters where Bethany is in the hospital.

I'm enjoying this trilogy, the stories are good. I think Maya is very redundant in her dialogue with driving home certain points, and at times its exhausting. I find spotted reading through most of the book a good solution. I actually preferred this to the first book, and I'll definitely be reading the third, I just can't bring myself to give more than 3 stars to a romance-the stories are never original or very well written. Good piece of fluff though!

I liked this book but I couldn't get over Jace's constant whining about the menage he put together. He asked for it when he knew the circumstances and it took him entirely too long to get over it. I had a love / hate for awhile but it seemed to work out in the end...Now all I need is Ash's f$%&ed up story and I'll be complete!!

I'm honestly a little amazed that this and the first book are written by the same author, because while I enjoyed the first one, I came this close to DNFing this one. The only reason I didn't is because I hoped it would turn around. While it improved slightly about 60% through, it wasn't enough to raise this beyond a 2-star rating for me. Given that I've seen multiple reviews talk about how book 3 is basically the same as this one, I will not be continuing the series.

Just...how do you go from understanding consent the way book 1 does to this? Fever was such a mess, between the instant obsession the "hero" gets with the heroine and how ineptly the VERY skewed power dynamics between the two were (outside of the D/s thing, which wasn't well-written anyway). "Hero" gets quotation marks, because the man basically kidnaps her, then makes her wholly dependent on him without any way of stabilizing her life or processing things. Big yikes. Again, it got a little better, but all in all, pass.
