Read for class. We ended up only reading about every other chapter, so I didn't get a full view of the book, but it's kind of insane and a little bit plotless/themeless. There were a few total gems, though, like when the kids hid the Feldwebel's gun. It is a memoir, so I feel like I can't judge it too harshly.

Such a heartfelt narrative. Nöstlinger was truly a master of storytelling.

Ich hätte mir gewünscht, dass zu Beginn klarer rausgestellt wird, dass es sich um eine autobiographische Verarbeitung handelt. Dann hätte ich mich anders darauf eingestellt.
So hatte ich ein bisschen Startschwierigkeiten. Mir gefällt der Schreibstil nicht, er ist recht simpel, aber wirkt mechanisch. Ich habe tatsächlich nur an einer Stelle im Buch gedacht "Nice geschrieben!"
Trotzdem gelingt es der Autorin, sehr authentisch zu schreiben. Sie hat mich komplett mit hineingenommen in die Kinderlogik ihres vergangenen Ichs. Ich fand die Darstellungen nachvollziehbar und glaubhaft und konnte die Charaktere alle aus ihrer Sicht betrachten. Irgendwie war es fast erfrischend, dass die Kriegserfahrungen von ihrer kindlichen Wahrnehmung überschattet wurden.
