I felt like having to read this for school again.
There are interesting parts in this book, themes and ideas to reflect on. It's also giving me Virginia Woolf vibes, but unfortunately not as successfully. For my taste this is a bit too much all over the place.

I loved this. Postwar Vienna but very internal, a feminist exploration of the mind and the difficulties of being in the world.
the first third of this was so painful to me that it not only put me off reading but all forms of media for a solid two months.
the rest was better, but I do feel like I probably missed a lot in my quest to just finally be done with this thing. however, I don't think I can ever bring myself to push through that first part again so I will just have to live my life knowing that I did not get the full effect of this one.
I found the introduction from rachel kushner mildly irritating which probably put me in the wrong headspace, and I've seen others talk about an afterword but my version had none (maybe that would've helped?). I expected to love this and I'm left mildly interested but not at all moved, which is probably a me problem.
