A selfish and racist mc. I can see that the book is trying to portray how a good christian should behave, but it really shows how selfish and despicable christians can be.
Even though he is miserable when he is forced into slavery, he has no problem selling other people into slavery, or owning slaves.
. I kept thinking that him getting stranded was a good thing to happen for the rest of humanity.

A tale about a man with what must be the world's worst luck when it comes to anything ship related, Crusoe finds himself stranded on a desert island where he has to not only survive but live as well. This book can be read simply as an adventure tale about one man's struggle for survival or alternatively read as inspiration for all on how to muddle through and survive life. Defoe is a brilliantly descriptive writer which adds to the captivating storyline and adds emphasis to the faster paced sections. Each of the characters are developed incredibly well and none becoming overly unrealistic or unbelievable. Crusoe is depicted as very much the normal man, making mistakes and suffering mishaps but still he cracks on with what needs to be done. A lesson for us all in this modern age where individual drive and responsibilty can be somewhat lacking at times.

No wonder there are so many abridged versions of this.
