I Thought This Was a Bear Book by Tara Lazar, Benji Davies

Great idea, but...
The dialogue seemed to leave holes between thoughts. Panels too seemed to be missing that would have explained shifts in situations.

What happens when an alien falls out of his book and lands in the Goldilocks story... Misunderstandings, confusion, and fun. A new take on the fractured tale, with some meta elements of talking to the reader. Cute story.

Cute story. I liked the little alien who ended up in the wrong book, but would have enjoyed seeing what happens on page 27 of his book (it seemed like it would be exciting).

I wanted to like this so much more than I did! The concept has been done before but I really thought this would be a winner. Another reviewer said it was "too busy," and I think that is the issue I have with it as well. It's a bit jumbled & there's a bit too much going on. It feels a bit confused/confusing.

An alien falls out of his book and into The Three Bears. This book is all dialog and would make a great book for storytime with the right reader.

This book breaks the 4th wall, speaks directly to the reader, and even requests some participation reminiscent of THERE'S A MONSTER AT THE END OF THIS BOOK.

Lots of great alliterations and a rich vocabulary, an all around good read.

This was an enjoyable book that playfully touched on postmodern concepts but didn't fully engage enough to make it a truly wonderful children's book. Nevertheless, the reader's participation is invited in a cute, fun way. Good for younger children!

When an alien appears in the wrong story, it'll take help from three bears and YOU to get him back to the correct book in time for a happily ever after. Lazar presents readers with a fun premise and action-filled text, while Benji Davies provides great illustrations. The interactive elements, especially points at which characters reach out to the reader, add an engaging element to the plot. Given the final images, I wouldn't be surprised to hear readers asking for a follow up adventure!

A fun mash-up of the Goldilocks and the Three Bears story everyone knows and a brand-new alien space adventure! What will happen to Goldilocks? ;)
