Was I Ever Real

Naomi Loud

4.17 AVERAGE

Another beautiful, deeply emotional and intriguing story from Naomi! I loved her first novel, Was I Ever Here, and if you like dark romance, you should absolutely check this out!

Lenix, who was raised in a cult but managed to escape when she was a teenager, begins receiving threats from her brother, now the cult leader. We know she did something unforgivable that is wading the cult to pursue her, but it’s not revealed until later what that is. And when she needs help, the only person she can think to turn to who she knows with absolutely certainty can protect her, is Connor.

She really can’t stand him, and he may act unbothered by her but he is clearly obsessed and doesn’t know what to do with his feelings. But he agrees to protect her, with a few strings of course.

Connor and Lenix’s lives are intertwined, whether they like it or not.

This isn't my first "escape from the cult" book but by far, it is the best one. Carrying on with the themes of reincarnation and soul bounds, this book was a little lighter than the previous one. I think I loved the love story a little more as well, because if nothing I am a sucker for an arranged marriage and the moment we switch from fake to real

You ever get mad at yourself because it took you so long to discover an author existed and you wished you had know about them sooner because you love their writing so much? That’s me right now with Naomi Loud.
I’ve never had an author make me giggle, cry, and horny all in one glorious book. Just like the first book, in the Was I Ever series, the author did such a beautiful job of writing a sultry and sexy yet heartbreaking and devastating story.
The MMC is so infuriating and pompous but in the hottest way possible. His obsession with the FMC Lenix had me kicking my legs like a school girl. And don’t even get me started on Lenix, she is truly such a bad*ss, I love how she clawed her way out of a horrible childhood and made a name for herself. I genuinely started crying at desk when she was dragged back to the cult and tormented by her brother.
I could go on and on about how much I loved this book and I am dyingggg to start the final book in the series. The author has kept Bastian so mysterious and I’m on the edge of my seat to see how his and Lucy’s relationship pans out 🥵.

HOW HOW HOW are her books so good? they just keep pulling me in, its all i can think about!
ok so now i need the physical copies, and i want to reread them for the rest of my life!
the plot, the characters, the SPICE! ugh she is my new favorite author.
ZERO criticism on these books, i don't want to hear a PEEP from anyone.
also cried twice in these so yay me. i'm actually going to cry again thinking about this series ending.....i'm not ready but i also NEED TO READ THE THIRD BOOK NOWWWWWWWW

✨arc review✨

I loved book one but I’m in love with book two! This had an almost magical feel to it which was so much fun.

Lenix has a dark past and is keeping secrets. Connor is a man obsessed. And they were SO entertaining.
The banter was great.
Their chemistry was off the charts.
And the spicy scenes were HOT

I was pleasantly surprised with the book but I’m so glad I picked it up. Definitely worth it! I love a book that has a good storyline & spice.

This isn’t really enemies to lovers —; there’s animosity but there isn’t any one thing that I felt classified them as enemies. Regardless, I enjoyed the banter & highly recommend
