i feel bad giving this a 2 but.... its a 2 :0 okay why are there three different love interests now? tbh out of all three, nikolai is the most likeable but also i feel like alina will end up w mal soooo.... not even enjoying the romance. ALINA AND MAL ARE BOTH SO UNLIKEABLE this book was such a filler book idek

This was such an improvement from the previous book. For me, I think the book was a lot better than the previous one because I am a character driven reader. If you are a plot driven reader, you may feel different. The book started off with a boom and then slowed way down and had a lot of character and story building. I think this book is mostly a setup for the next book. It is quite slow through the middle but I didn't mind it much. I flew through this book.
I am excited to get to the King of Scars because I really love Nikolai's character. I think the issues I had with the previous book were mostly resolved in this one. I will have to see in the next one how it all ends. Alina was a bit of a naïve character in the previous book and I like her development in this book. I also like that the darkling was left out of this book for a majority of it.

This one was a bit slower than the first, but still kept me reading. My favorite character in this world was introduced, so I love this book for that alone. Nicholai Lantsov>>
