The MMC’s name is my son’s name. It was just too weird. I appreciate that this is one of Elle Kennedy’s first works but the writing was a little disjointed too. I do enjoy Elle’s other works.

They went through relationship milestones at LIGHTSPEED so most of the book was them just hooking up. But outside of that there wasn’t any chemistry, plot, or personality. She really decided “I love you and would prioritize saving your career over ratting out my dad for bribery and sending him to jail” after knowing the man for TWO MONTHS. They went from strangers to a fling to dating to engaged to married to expecting a kid….all in a year.
The epilogue was stereotypical “now we’re married and expecting a kid” which was boring but on par for the predictability of the book.

I like when the MMC falls first and the FMC insists she’s not going to catch feelings. Can’t say that this feels timeless as it definitely reads like 2009. I’m dabbling in hockey romance but can see what folks who say it lacks diversity are talking about.
