I absolutely loved this one! It pulled me in from beginning to end and really held my attention the entire time. I loved getting to see these two come back together and the little glimpses we got at the beginning of them as kids/growing up as best friends and when things started to change. I loved how they supported and took care of each other the entire time while also being able to push in just the right way. Even with things changing from just the best friends and the one night of more before Laurel left for school, they have such a strong foundation due to their friendship that not much rocks them. I love how they handle and deal with each other through the hard times that are popping up around them. This story was a great read and I absolutely adored it! I can't wait for the next one and am definitely hoping that Jesse's story is coming soon.
The narrator did a fantastic job with this one and brought the characters and story to life.

I loved every second of Rocky Mountain Devil, even when the story was bringing tears to my eyes and making me think of my own issues, but honestly isn’t that what makes a story great—that ability to draw on the readers’ emotions? Rafe and Laurel were a destined match in every way, perfectly balancing one another in moments of crisis and quiet. Rafe is a sexy and challenging cowboy that has spent most of his life hiding his solemn emotional side, trying to keep his father from tearing him down. He has grown a lot from the annoying little brother we met in Gabe’s story and seeing him become a truly good man, despite his fears, is one of the good parts of reading a long time series. Laurel has always been the spirited adventurous girl, even though she has never gone too far off course and remained the sweet girl that Rafe knew all his life. While she is certainly a good woman, she has her wicked side too and that makes her a wonderfully rounded character. The love between them started out quietly, love between two longtime friends, but quickly heated up into the full-blown passion that I expect from a Coleman and any woman that conquers his heart. Seeing the two of them burning up the town, the sexy cowboy and naughty librarian clichés notwithstanding, was beyond stimulating and kept my attention every minute. I cannot wait to read Jesse’s story coming soon and see him also find his place in the Coleman clan and see him fall for a woman that will capture his heart and soul. Arend’s skill with words is astounding to me and she is one of my favorite authors. A sexy read with all the tears, pain, and laughs that make a life worth living, Rocky Mountain Devil, will take you through all the emotional turmoil of a truly loving relationship that will obviously last forever. Another stroke of genius for Vivian and great addition to any library.

Well, mostly boring and the big reveal of her was not so much a big reveal. Though I did like
Spoiler that she was at a clinic and believed it to be a woman's choice.
And the big tragedy, well I didn't think any of them that tragic.
Spoiler The death of his father, well I get that he blames himself but that was just too far. And the miscarriage of his sister-in-law, women have them all the time it is sad but not tragic IMO. I have experience and I get that some women get attached to the idea and want a baby, or another so badly. Tragedy definition (an event causing great suffering, destruction, and distress, such as a serious accident, crime, or natural catastrophe.) So a miscarriage, can be very sad and emotionally stressful but mostly I think it over done.
Sad yes, tragic not so much. This one just wasn't for me, didn't hit my buttons and the couple was tepid not hot. Still like the side characters and probably will come back again.
---------------------------------------
Really boring start and the issue of the old flame that she is totally not interested in is not a good plot line. Some sort of tragedy is supposed to strike so maybe it'll pick up. About 1/3 in.
