Not. For me.

Expecting a romance book, for a drama filled, abusive littered crap show of someone’s life.

I honestly didn’t get what was advertised and wish I had known more what to expect before jumping in. My first book by this author picked up on a whim but it was not a light romance, there was a LOT of domestic abuse triggers for anyone wondering. A lot of toxic stuff in here and basically no romance anywhere.

I can see where people would enjoy this look into a woman’s life as she tries to figure out her life but I wasn’t looking for a book like this and I don’t enjoy ones with this tone. So not for me.

This is the most non traditional rom com ever. Was it messy yes. Was it steamy…slow burn yes. Do you love the characters yes. Is it also a cautionary tale about giving your heart to mean men. Also yes. When I tell you this book breaks your heart to mend it back together. It does that. Also Roxy was it…fuck her total how do they say it across the pond. Slag. I knew when Brooke rated it 5 stars it would not disappoint.

 ✨𝔹𝕆𝕆𝕂 ℝ𝔼𝕍𝕀𝔼𝕎✨
I was not ready for the wild ride this book had in store for me. I thought I was in for a cute little rom com about two people scared of commitment. And it’s that, but the romance is really an afterthought. The plot focuses more than anything on female friendships and women supporting and watching out for each other. I absolutely loved how the abuse was depicted in this book. Most of it was “harmless” and very subtle to the bystander. I did not care too much for the main character, she was a bit boring to be honest, so the side characters are really what makes this book brilliant.

• Abuse is abuse. It can be physical, it can be emotional, it can be intense or subtle. The most important (and sometimes hardest) part is to identify it’s happening and SEEK HELP. A friend, a family member, the police…stay safe out there.

• Try to balance your relationships in a way that you do not loose your friends in order to keep your partner or vice versa. All of your chosen people are part of who you are.
Don’t pressure anyone into an answer they’re not ready to give! May it be a marriage proposal or choosing an ice cream flavor! Patience people! Some of us need time to figure ourselves out.

If anyone knows the IG handle of the narrator Heather Long, please let me know so I can tag her. I couldn't find her socials, but she is a fantastic narrator ❤️

✏️ I can’t believe I am liking this book more for the friendships than the romance. Who even is she? We don’t know her!

✏️ I want to visit London so badly omfg.
They both have superhero names omg!

✏️ Harriet Hatley and Cal Clarke, I love!

✏️ Simon really said girlboss, gaslight, gatekeep. Hate him.
