This is a warm blanket of a book. Filled with courtly drama set in a fantastical world that's modeled after 17th  century sensibilities, the Goblin Emperor weaves a comforting tale of how a just ruler can change corrupt systems.

I absolutely loved this book! It was a refreshing comfort read with complex characters and a tense plot.

Such amazing worldbuilding! I love that the world was given a unique dialect that distinguished between the upper and lower classes.

The characters were phenomenal. I don't see a lot of books that value kindness in their characters and make it a defining trait. I hope I read more like this!

5/5 stars for being such an amazing and interesting book without a depressing plot.
