Seriously, how am I not supposed to just start book 6 now? Because THAT ENDING! I mean seriously! And Charley/Reyes moments! Charley learning more about her powers. The many mysteries. It was awesome, and I can't wait to read more.

O.M.G! Words truly elude me! How to describe the awesomeness that is Darynda Jones and her story of Charley and Reyes!?! As with all great series, the next book tends to be better and continues to progress in that direction. This series is one of those where each book is better than the previous one, which tends to be hard to do as all the books in this series ROCK!!
The fifth installment of the Charley Davidson series does not disappoint! In fact, it makes you want to knock on Darynda's door and tell her you'll take care of everything else so she may have the time to finish book 6 so you can read it ASAP!
With creative chapter titles like "Chapter 1: "Ask me about life after death." T-shirt often seen on Charley Davidson, a grim reaper of questionable morals." this books provides you with laughter, suspense, that goosebumps feeling of knowing that something awesome is about to happen and of course the hotness that is Reyes Farrow! Check out the audio sample below to get a taste of the first chapter!
Besides all the awesomeness going on in this book, one of the many reasons why I LOVED it was that we got to see more of the Charley and Reyes relationship and even a different side to Reyes. Won't say more regarding this so I don't spoil it for you.
Darynda Jones is an auto buy author (both this series and her YA Series "Dark Light") and will continue to be!!
Narrator Review: Lorelei is a fantastic narrator! She gives each character their unique voice and personality bringing them to life! The transitions between characters and the narration is smooth and seamless!

Charley Davidson Book 5
Arsonists, serial killers and sexy next-door neighbors all appear in the latest caffeinated tale of the grim reaper. When Charley discovers that Reyes is her new neighbor, she knows she's in for trouble. We get to see a bit more of Gemma in this book, as well.
Looking for a quirky paranormal series with wit and charm? This is the series for you!

Fifth Grave Past the Light, is the fifth book (you might have figured that out) in the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones. Charley is a PI who has an uncle on the Albuquerque Police Department. She can also see and talk to dead people. This makes her a valuable source to help the PD solve crimes. Oh, yeah. She's also the grim reaper; the crossing portal for people who have died. That's kind of why she can see them. One more thing. She's "dating" the son of Satan.
Ms. Jones has put together another winner. In Fifth Grave, Charley comes home one day to find five or so dead, blonde females inhabiting her apartment, one of which is under the bed, scratching at the bottom of the bed. None of them will talk to her, and only one makes eye contact, and that one is the one under the bed. The one that is around seven years old. All of them are very frightened and seem traumatized. As she looks into what is going on with these girls and women, the number increases until there are 27 of them. Makes it kind of hard for her to get around in her apartment. Meanwhile, the son of Satan has moved in down the hall, renting the newly remodeled apartment. Charley's best friend, Cookie, lives across the hall, with her daughter Amber. Cookie has a thing for Charley's uncle, Ubie, who also has a thing for Cookie. Neither one will really admit it, though.
So, in this book, Charley has to solve the mass murder of 27 girls, learns more about Reyes Farrow (the above-mentioned son of Satan), and also works on a marital infidelity case, which figures in heavily toward the end. The plots twist and turn, and as always, the dialogue is, at times, hilarious and entertaining. It is, however, definitely an "R-rated" book, so beware if easily offended.
