Welp, the writer sums things up pretty nicely here:
"NORROWAY is the result of the stories my sister Cat and I told to each other on dark nights when we were growing up,” said Kit Seaton. “This is a new series inspired by all the things we love about ghost stories and the old dark fairy tales. It’s about curses run amok, doomed knights, dancing princesses, shipwrecks, and young peasant girls destined for adventure. Take warning, however: even good intentions can lead to dangerous places.”

This was a delightfully surprising read that I was not expecting to love as much as I did, and I read it all in one sitting. Ends on a cliffhanger so I'll be eagerly awaiting the next installment.

An interesting graphic novel adaptation of a Scottish fairy tale that I wasn't particularly familiar with prior to reading this. I really like the art in this, and there's a lot of depth, but this is just the first book in a planned series, and it feels rather incomplete. I would have liked to have a little more of the plot revealed in this first book in order to hook me in. I was just as frustrated as the protagonist at not having my questions answered about what exactly is happening.

But I'm certainly interested enough to read the next book, whenever it comes out.

Thank you to the publisher for my ARC.

It's a solid 3. It's based on a Scottish fairy tale, and it feels like it.
I've enjoyed the back story as riddles, and the meandering quest to break a curse. A witch tells a girl she will marry The Black Bull of Norroway, a decade later he comes and collects her. They begin their quest to return him to his human form and return him and his sibling to Norroway (world of the faye). She's awful, she's miserable, and yet they continue on together.

The artwork is great. Love the diversity. I'd follow along to see where this story goes.

I wish I could give this graphic novel 100 stars!!! It was amazing! I loved the art sooo much and the story was so cool, interesting, and mysterious. It felt like a fairy tale I've heard once long ago but forgotten. The blend of fairy tales, mystery, horror, and adventure was captivating. The characters were gorgeous and I want to know so much more about everything. I can't wait for a second volume!

I really enjoyed this first volume of the new Image series!
Kit & Cat did an awesome job with interpreting the Black Bull of Norroway fairytale.

I do like that they changed the characters a bit & added some diversity that honestly is apt for the times.

Really can’t wait for the next issue!! I have to figure out how to get issues.
