First I have to say that I'm still quite new to reading short stories collections and , in general, I prefer a longer-format type of storytelling.
Having said that, I still liked this collection more than other ones I've read in the past, all in all it was a pleasant enough reading experience.

There are many elements of magical realism that I wasn't expecting, I thought they were going to be fairly straightforward realistic stories so I was a bit taken aback. It's not that I do not appreciate a more fantastical setting or undertone but many stories' endings left me a bit perplexed, I'm not sure I really understood what happened or what the storyline was supposed to mean.

My favourite story was "The Life Story of a Sewing Machine", I found the idea behind it quite interesting (following the fate of an object by telling the stories of all the people that came in contact with it).
