Loveable story

I have to say this story was really good as the first book. I just have to continue on reading this entire series. I just can't get enough. My rating for this book a second time remains the same. Trisha being the first human to become pregnant by a New Species is interesting. Now they know that it is possible for them to mate with a human and get her pregnant is good news for them.

I listened to this one on audio over the holidays and found I liked it better second time round.
I had more sympathy for Slade and his flawed reasons for being an asshat. I also found more humour in his constantly putting his foot in his mouth where Trisha was concerned.
Normally I dislike snarky arrogance in my heroes but Slade is pretty hard to dislike ; )

Spoiler Not sure if Slade slept around during their year apart. It isn't mentioned. I like to think not, but he does seem to have some awesome bedroom skills...

Slade and Trisha have met before. its just Slade cant remember and its really pissing Trisha off! so she gives him a helping hand and reminds him when they met, he pinned her to the bed, with all intentions of mounting her. THEN he recalls the red head with the sweet scent who he has dreamed about for the past year!

Sent on a mission to the New Order Reservation, their truck is forced off the road and Slade and Trisha are on the run for their lives.

Again, from Fury's book, there is sex in this book, but not as much as you'd expect from and Ellora's Cave publication, but then again, Trisha and Slade spend most of this book apart!

I love the background story, the New Order's fight for their place in the world, and the idiots who wish to stop them. We meet several new charcters, as well as some previous ones, along with a whole new set of people who have suffered more, and are more animal than human. the road is laid for the next book, Valiant.

I already have Valiant waiting to be read, but reading the blur on all the other books, its all New Order male with human female. I would like to have seen some the other way round, so whether or not I will get them all, remains to be seen. they are all on my wish list though :-)

DNF - No rating. Ugh, I just can't go on. DNFing this one at 43%. I just don't like Slade. He doesn't act like the other New Species heros I've read so far (Valiant and Fury). He just acted like a jerky human man. And I felt no connection with him or Trisha. I didn't care what happened to either of them so I couldn't continue. I do want to read more from this series though so I'll keep trying with it.

Slade and Dr Trisha are headed to a meeting when they are run off the road and end up in the wilderness. The evil people start hunting them as if they are wild game.

In general, I liked the dynamics between the two characters, though I think Slade is an ass for not wanting to use her name throughout the story. She repeatedly states her preferences and he continues to ignore them, and he is in a position where he ought to sympathize.
Trisha is a kickass human and a strong woman, and I liked her.

Overall, I think the story dances from danger to danger a little too fast, but it does keep the tempo up. I also think they need a proofreader so they can get complete sentences throughout the book. If things like that drive you batty, this book is not for you.

Having said all that, I liked the intro of Valiant and I may stick around for his story and see if the New Species ever get their compounds running on their own and without suicidal interference.

Once again, I enjoyed it. I laughed. I almost shed some tears. So, onto the next book!

Slade is my least favorite hero of the series so far. Trisha took him back way too easy.
It's a shame since I like him in the other books.
