for a book about art history, masterful art theft, running from the law, psychology and complicated relationships, the author somehow made it kind of boring & dry.. which is in itself kind of impressive for a short book? i guess? while it is an objectively interesting true story, i found most of it quite repetitive without introducing anything new to something that had been written about before. did we need to include every detail of every single one of the hundreds of heists?
however i did enjoy the analysis of breitweiser’s complicated psychology & behaviour - a coddled kleptomaniac that was never told no, who stole not for monetary gain but to thirst his quench for aesthetic beauty! it did annoy me how lenient the judicial system was, though.. because this man is STILL stealing!!

I mean…… I would probably also steal art for my own personal collection if I could :/ this was a quick little read if you’re an art history nerd
