A non science fiction book by Wells, it tells the life of the Mr Polly. Initially a passive, indecisive character, as his life seems to be falling apart, he finds the courage to make of life what he wants, and ends up standing up for what is right. It was slow to start, but became more engaging even as Mr Polly found his strength.
Molto divertente la storia del signor Polly... Gli succede di tutto, e che mal di pancia, anzi, di digestione...

This is one of my favorite Wells novels so far, as it tells the story of someone who really makes a mess of his life and then, through his efforts, dumb luck, and some contrivances, figures out how to get himself out of the mess. Despite being entirely confined to small portion of the UK, the novel feels like a vast, picaresque work that shows the limited possibilities available to those who were part of the lower middle-class at the end of the nineteenth century and start of the twentieth. Most fans of British novels will enjoy this--it's incredibly hard to dislike this book.
An amiable bit of fluff from the (intermittently) great man.
Doesn't really get interesting until chapter 7. Good for anyone who has dreamt of escaping their current life circumstances or who wakes up one day and wonders "how did I get here ?"
