This was a good stand-alone fantasy novel. Repeat, this is a stand-alone novel. That's rare enough that I feel the need to repeat it. Set in a fictional Europe where Konstantyn, king of Zavonia, has been killed and Valdas, captain of the king's guard, sets out to find the true killer and to place Konstantyn's son on the throne.
