Another banger from Ryoko Kui. Almost all of this book is taken up with the long-awaited encounter with the Red Dragon and its aftermath. This very singular focus was an interesting change, although we do get to see some further expansion of the world in Namari’s “above ground” chapter and more detail on Marcille’s character in particular. I knocked off half a star for how the dragon was defeated relatively quickly for all that but added it back on for finally meeting Falin properly !

A fantastic volume of Delicious in Dungeon. This volume includes the largest battle so far and a lot more peril for our heroes. It also includes an important plot point that feels like it will now change the trajectory of the rest of the story. I am fascinated to see where this story goes next considering events in this volume and knowing there are many volumes of the story to come. The character dynamics and the world building continue to be my favorite parts of this series.
