This is by far my favourite Lisa Gardner book to date. Couldn’t stop reading. Phenomenal read.

Great book. Only reason for 4 stars is that the ending just let me down. Last few chapters before the ending had me up all night turning pages trying to figure out what was going on. Nicky and Thomas both had to go through a great deal of hardship through their lives so I was hoping for an ending that wasn’t so lovey-dovey “happy ever after”. There were times where I also couldn’t keep up with Nicky and Vero in her mind. Either way, still a great read!

Oh my gosh.

When I finished Crash & Burn, my first thought was: "That was simultaneously the best and the worst novel I've ever read!"

Okay, so that was me being overly dramatic, because that was definitely some black-and-white thinking that wasn't entirely true.

However, it really was an amazing book. It dragged for me, for about the first 40 to 50%, but then it got really interesting around 50%... and then around 60% (am estimating since I read the paperback not the e-book), it really took off, to the point of me not wanting to put it down even though I had to.

Crash & Burn had some very unexpected twists and turns. I mean, I somewhat expect any thrillers to have twists and turns that I don't anticipate. But this one did, in fact, take the cake for how many twists and turns there were in such a short span of pages.

And the ending. I'm not going to give spoilers, but the ending was definitely a happy ending. I loved it. It was sad... but it was good.

The story was so sad though. Nicky's story - heartbreaking. Thomas' story - heartbreaking. Marlene's story - frightening but also very sad.

Definitely recommend. And yes, although it's supposedly #3 in the Tessa Leoni series, it was perfectly fine as a standalone (I haven't read any others in the Tessa Leoni series - I understood the story just fine, and I didn't feel as though I were really missing any major backstory between Tessa and Wyatt).

Intriguing story. There was a bit of foul language, but mostly fit the role of the characters and was infrequently used. Well written, and kept me on my toes trying to keep up with all the twists and turns.
slow-paced

Slow start, but great once I got into it.

A lot of twists and turns which made you think as to what will happen and how will the story end. Kept me guessing page after page.

I was disappointed by this book. It wasn't a page turner like many others. The story seemed to drag with no exciting plot twists but I kept reading since so many reviews claime there was an exciting twist. I never found that excitement.
There are also points in the story where I found it hard to believe that a police officer or private investigator (with policing background) would do... like leave vehicle keys findable by a suspect.
Although I like the character Wyatt, this was suppose to be a continuation of the Tessa series but I didn't find this book had much to do with her character. Hopefully that is picked up in future books.
