Lord Loss surprised me. It is my first book club book and I didn't expect too much from it. I like Darren Shan but the blurb didn't excite me.
Well, I was wrong. I absolutely loved this book! While I really wish the MC wasn't named Grubbs (tbh all of the names bar Dervish and Meera are kinda terrible).
The deaths and demons are much more graphic than I thought. In fact, I got this book in the children's section of my local library, bottom self even... So I might mention it to the librarians, this is a young adult book. It deals with family death, infidelity, metal health, mental health institutions and pretty graphic violence.
The story is somewhat meandering, which works for this particular book as so much of it is the set up for this world. It's a great first entry.
